Question:
My old man passed away. I would like to get a tattoo as a memorial for him. But I am not
particularly religious, and crosses don't hold the kind of meaning for
me that they do for others (no offense intended, but your religion may
not be mine).
I am looking for another symbol that may be appropriate in this case. I
am willing to consider symbols from most cultures and religions. Exotic
is good and even preferred....
Answer: -Mem tats for dead relatives are a "speciality" of mine. Some time back
i "announced" my "latest" tat. It is for my bro. The tat is real nice and
has a meaning to me , but the "mem" part of the tat is the media, mixed in
with all the shading/black/grey is my brothers ashes. If you get a copy of
TATTOO magazine #97 Sept 97on page 46 upper right corner
live your dream come to your own decision
-Why don't ya get something that ment alot to him. If he was into guns
or hunting or boating or fishing or motorcycling or sports or cars or
tools or computers or women or food or flowers or paintings or
sculptures or basketweaving or knitting or animals or men or
antiques... Find something that he loved and get a symbol of that which
he loved tattooed on your body part of choice. Use your creativity,
imagination, get a Harley with yer pops name on the license plate, or
just get his name. Something like that is up to you, not us. (Actually
_all_ tattooz should be that way.)
-I did a memorial tattoo for a friend of mine. We did a heart colored
with her family tartan being held up by two lions with a banner and her
fathers name. It was beautiful. She brought a photo of her father to
look at while she was being tattooed. It was very moving.
