| Tribal Armband |
Question:
I wish to get a tribal armband but I haven't found one that I really
like yet. I've looked quite a bit on the net but still can find quite what
I'mm looking for. If someone could help me out. Like send me a pic of a
really cool armband then it would be much appriciated.
Answer: - There are all sorts of different styles that are characterized as Tribal.
Can you be more specific? Here are the names from some south pacific
groups, you can use these as keywords in your favorite search engine.
Marquesas ;Kanaka Maoli ;Maori
Kapa (a style of decoration with much in common for tattoos), also Tapa
Tatau ; Kakau ; Kahiki ; Aoteaora ; Fiji ; Tonga ; Lapita; Green Stone ; Whakairo
Amakua (be very careful using images described with this word); Ki'i (or this one)
Here is some Maori stuff you might be able to get some use out of
http://www.maori.org.nz/ ( I am amazed that people do not go to this most
obvious source)
Carving faces, bones, trees, it's all the same to the maori. So ... here
is some carving stuff.
http://www.he-wahi-whakairo.co.nz/wood.htm
http://www.he-wahi-whakairo.co.nz/bone.htm
http://www.he-wahi-whakairo.co.nz/hinuera.htm
These are off the beaten track and I don't know of any tattoo site that has
given them as links.
If you use the images, use them with great respect or keep New Zealand off
your travel itinerary.
- Have a look at my personal page http://home.global.co.za/~at_home/ for an
example of my tribal/graffitti style armband, soon to have more work added
on to it, or have a look at www.bodyart.co.za the studio who's website I
maintain for some examples of South African style tribal tattoos.
