| Any New York City tattoo artists? |
Question:
out there have a New York artist they can recommend. I had a
tatoo done on the upper arm and now I would like to add a band around
the arm something keltic or tribal. I'm open to suggestions....I
would go back to the first artist but he's all the way down in
Maryland?
Answer: - First off, thanks to all who responded either privately or via the
news group.
This is a little long but I'm still kind of hyper from the experience.
Well, I finally did it got a partial armband at Fun City tattoo(in NYC
east side) by an artist named Todd Vargas..(BTW the name sounds
familar anybody know of him?). I looked at some of the flash work
and asked Todd about cost. When I showed him what I already had he
got real excited and said he could do a custom job using a similar
style for the band, we negotiated an approximate price and after I
came back with the funds he sat me down and proceeded to hand draw the
work and after about 20 minutes he was finished....It looked great!
He did it in a little under an hour...since he wasn't busy he gave me
a good price.
I can't begin to say how great it feels to know I have an original on
my arm. I highly recommend it to those who can afford it...what a
rush. Todd's energy was right on target....I had checked out the west
side location the other day but the amount of flash work was minimal
and the price seamed high for flash work....
Like I asked before anybody else familar with Todd's work?? From what
I experienced he's top notch.
- Jim Winters at Brightside tattoo.
my friends from Syracuse were all done by him, one guy, D.J., is covered
in Jim's work.
Are you interested in Hardcore music? Jim is, he's the official DNA
artist for the 315 STRAIGHTEDGE crew. If you're not into hardcore, you
probably have no idea what I'm talking about.
