| Anyone ever been to the Tattoo Shop? |
Question:
I'm set on getting a tattoo, my first this coming Monday Aut. 10th. Thus
far I'm planning on going to the Tattoo Shop in Portsmouth NH. The artists
names are...kim and bugger. Does anyone know anything about them
or has anyone used them before?
Answer: -I had a small (2" wide by 3" long), what I later considered
cutsie'ish-looking dragon done on my right upper arm. I was more or
less testing the waters with this one, I guess, and I've since had
it covered by a larger (4" wide by 6" long), more serious-looking
dragon. I had this one and a really super one about the same size
of a mummified pharoah's head wearing Tut-like regalia bursting
through the skin of my left upper arm (just to sorta balance my
arms out) done at the Ruby Arts Studios in Harrogate, England by an
artist named Mick. I can't recall his last name though.
My only suggestion concerning the Tattoo Shop would be to take your
own art for them to work with. As I remember it, they had quite a
large selection there, but it was pretty plain for the most part.
Their location is excellent though, as there's a bar right
downstairs where you can celebrate your wonderful new tat! Another
tip for anyone travelling to England sometime and into body art
would be to hold off on getting anything Stateside and have one
done over there-my experience has been that tattoos in England cost
a quarter to a third of what they cost over here. Plus, they
generally have lots of designs from European artists that you might
not find over here. They make for nice souvenirs of your trip too!
I've been getting an itching for ink again (it's been a coupla
years) and have settled on a demon from a Glen Danzig comic story
called "Obscenity" drawn by Simon Bisley. I'm gonna have it done on
my right shoulder blade with maybe a female demon midways down my
back on the left side. I'll probably get them done at Tattoo
Charlie's in Louisville, KY. Anyone out there know anything about
them? I haven't actually visited their studio yet, I've just seen
their ads. I suppose this is my delurking posting. I've been skulking around
here for about a week or so and was surprised to see your
question-I got my first tattoo at the Tattoo Shop! I've visited a
few studios since and can heartily recommend them. Their studio
was immaculately clean, and Hobo and Tattoo George were very
professional.
