Question:
Can someone please recommend a tattoo parlour in the Chicago area?
If you don't mind me asking, what did you have done, what is the size,
where is it, and how many colors is the tattoo? I have no ideal about that.
Answer:
- Go check out Body Basics at 613 W. Briar in Chicago. That's near
Belmont and Broadway.
I've had ummmmmm let's see about 6 tats and 9 piercings done there, all
executed to perfection.
Their phone is 773 404-5838 and their web site is
http://www.bodybasics.com
You can check out The Reverend Mad Jack or Patrick or Jason as your
tattoo artists ... all of them do great work.
- Spider Tattooz

Oak Park

(Right outside the city limits, about 3 blocks East of Harlem on the
North side of the street.)

Life long Chicagoan, have tattoos and piercings from first 2 shops,
great work, very clean, recommend them to anyone/everyone.
- I agree about Tattoo Factory. I actually live a spitting away from them, and
drive by the shop constantly. I stopped in to price some CBRs (thinking,
incorrectly, that I could beat pierre's price at medusa's circle on anatometal
pieces) and I wasnt all that comfortable with the people or the 'tude. I dont
know how clean they are, but they say that they use sterilized single use
needles. If thats ALL they do, I would stay faaaarrr away.
I can personally vouch for Body Basics, as Misha knows...:P Its not the same
since she left, but I just (like just, like JUST) finished up a first sitting
with Patrick, and I gotta say...
EXCELLENT experience. Great tattoo so far. Very happy. Very happy indeed.
They're friends with all the beat cops at Chicago Tattoo, which is definately
good sign, though I havent gotten work done there...
Kim Saigh at Guilty and Innocent is my next venture. I know what I would love
her to do, and now its just a matter of selling my right leg to pay for it...
- There are many quality tattoo studios in Chicago, Tattoo Factory is NOT
one of them.
My recommendations:
Body Basics, I used to work there, VERY clean!
Chicago Tattoo, good street style shop
Delux Tattoo, newer shop, I've heard good reviews
Guilty and Innocent, Kim is great, a bit of a wait though
I also recommend you visit as many studios as possible. Different shops
fit different needs, some prefer street shops with designs on the walls
and others prefer custom shops where all is drawn for you. Ask to see
the artist's portfolios, see who's work fits your needs best. You are
very lucky, Chicago has a high concentration of great tattoo artists to
choose from.
