Question:
I want to use my own personal image for my
tattoo. Can this be done. If so how. The biggest question does this cost a
lot more than if I just picked one out at the palor.
Answer: - But always remember -- don't go by price. If you like the artists work, pay the
money. A shitty tattoo lasts as long as a good one.
- Everything I have is my own art, of course it was redrawn by the
artist so it would work on my body, but other than that, it should be
ok. Jut some shops seem to be better at it than others. In my
opinion
- Put it in their hand. Say "I want this." If they say ok, you are
in!! Note that some images are not suitable for tattooing. If one
artist says they cannot do it, shop it around a bit. If many say no,
you are probably out of luck.
A majority of artists charge by the hour, not the image. The biggest
question _should_ be can you afford the best artist in your area right
now, or do you have to save some money.
- yes, you certainly can do that. (the prevailing opinion around here is
that it's "better" to do that than to just get a ready-made design
from the artist's wall.) it's what's referred to as "custom" rather
than "flash" tattooing. (flash are the designs they hang up on the wall in
the tattoo parlor.) how much it costs depends on how big & how intricate
your design is. flash usually comes with standard prices, but for custom
work you normally get charged by the hour. ask around at tattoo shops in
your area -- bring them your design, ask them what they think. get a few
opinions (friend of mine recently got estimates that varied in price by
$200 just by walking down the street to the shop's second location and
talking to another artist there), look at the artist portfolios to make
sure the artist you'd be going to has some skill at the style you're
looking at, ask questions of the artist if you need something clarified.
