| tattoo ideas? |
Question:
I'd like to get another tattoo, one with a pagan motif, and I was
hoping someone would have some ideas....how about it? Any input would be appreciated!
Answer: - If you check out any tattooing magazines, you'll see a lot of celtic
designs, esp. celtic braidwork. A while back on rec.arts.bodyart
someone posted a recomendation for an artist in California who specialized
in them. You ought to be able to find someone on the east coast as
well, as I guess celtic work is fashionable in tattoo circles right now.
I've always thought that if I worked up the courage* to get a tattoo,
I'd really like to have a pentacle/rose design on my shoulder. Or
given sufficient courage (aka stupidity, aka drunkenness) maybe a celtic
braid with roses down one entire arm.
*(yes, I'm one of those annoying weenies who reads tattooing magazines
and lurks in rec.arts.bodyart who not only doesn't have a single tattoo,
but set up a really annoying high decibel whine when my pierced ears got
infected. Do NOT look for more interesting modifications on my body at any
time in the forseeable future.)
- On the one hand, I don't like the idea of a permanent modification to
my body - so I haven't had anything pierced, I won't get a tattoo,
and I refused surgery when it was offered as one option in resolving
an illness not long ago.
On the other hand, that's no reason why you shouldn't and no reason
not to discuss ideas!
How about:
* A star, with perhaps four main points and four minor points
* A five-pointed star
* Go all-out and have a pentacle!
* A just-past-new moon
* The Phoenix or Ace of Cups from that tarot deck Janis and
Ailsa have been raving about
* A stag (although you might want to make sure you're happy
with that idea!)_
* An athame
* An athame and a cup (!!)
* A cauldron
* A cauldron of flames
* A leaf
* A branch of leaves (how much area do you want to cover?)
* A flower meaningful to you
Anyone else with suggestions?
