Question:
I have just been to see Tattoo The Planet at Wembley Arena. Got back
at 5:30am the next day (yawn). In order, the bands were
Defenestration, Raging Speedhorn, Napalm Death, Biohazard, Therapy,
Cradle of Filth, and Slayer. This was my first metal concert so I
wasn't sure what to expect, but I enjoyed it - great atmosphere, great
music. I was a little disappointed with the sound quality of the
arena. Yes, it was loud, and it had awesome bass, but on some of the
more delicate Slayer riffs it often sounded like a wall of sound, and
didn't do the guitarists much justice. Paul's drumming was
incredible though. I did feel that the arena was more suited to death
metal than anything else. Napalm Death was just incredible.
I was really pleased with Slayer's set list, as it included all
my favourites such as Hell Awaits, Angel of Death, Captor of Sin,
Postmortem, Seasons in The Abyss (end bit - heavier) Raining Blood,
New Faith etc. Tom Araya seemed really pleasant as usual, and talked
to the audience about every other song. They were also very inventive
with the lighting, on par with Cradle of Filth.
Answer:
- I thought Defen' were shite. RS were OK. Napalm Death were fantastic,
Biohazard were good, Therapy were OK, but at the wrong show. Cradle of
Filth were something else and Slayer gave their usual intense
performance
- I went to Wembley as well.
I thought Slayer were on top form, and just blew everyone else away.
They were absolutely superb, and played a fantastic set.
Their professionalism is just out of this world.
I'm absolutely gutted that it's over now, because I've been anticipating it
for so long.
My recommendations:
Body Basics, I used to work there, VERY clean!
Chicago Tattoo, good street style shop
Delux Tattoo, newer shop, I've heard good reviews
Guilty and Innocent, Kim is great, a bit of a wait though
I also recommend you visit as many studios as possible. Different shops
fit different needs, some prefer street shops with designs on the walls
and others prefer custom shops where all is drawn for you. Ask to see
the artist's portfolios, see who's work fits your needs best. You are
very lucky, Chicago has a high concentration of great tattoo artists to
choose from.
