| Help with Tattoo Shops in Ohio |
Question:
I am considering getting a tattoo and I just wanted to know if any of
you had any experiences with tattoo shops in Ohio. Right now, I am
considering 248 Tattoo and Generation X tattoo (near Cleveland). I'm
also considering yellow Tiger tattoo in Akron. I would like to get
mine down more around the Cleveland area (west side) since that's were
I'm from. However, I live in Akron right now and would be willing to
get one done here or travel to Youngstown, Canton, or Kent if there is
a better shop. I'm just a little apprehensive getting a tattoo in the
Akron area b/c of the constant influx of college students (from UAkron
and Kent State) and from what I saw of some of the pictures from

Answer: - the Tattoo FAQ artist list is kind of thin in Ohio. If you
do find a good artist there, be sure to consider submitting a review
for the database:

- from the great list of lish-approved tattooists:
+ ohio
ron antonick generation x willowic

# mike dorsey permanent production cincinnati, oh
durb morrison stained skin columbus, oh

durb morrison offered me a discount if i drove out from chicago to
see him. nice guy; great art. i'd recommend him above all others if JUST
for that.
- Well, for what it's worth, I spent three years piercing in Cleveland, so I
can give you
my opinion(s)...
1) I never got tattooed by anyone in that area
2) If I were going to get tattooed by anyone in that area, I would probably
go to 252 or
Atom Bomb Tattoo, which is on the East Side.
In general, I found the level of tattooing in the Cleveland area to be
average, at best. Most of it sucked. Those places that didn't suck, did an
okay tattoo, but very little of the work I saw demonstrated any good
use/understanding of shading an depth.
If the Cleveland area was my only option for tattoos (which thank Christ it
isn't anymore), I would probably end up at 252. I know they have a few guys
out there that do some pretty nice stuff. Of course, I can't remember their
names off the top of my head.
Atom Bomb is a newer shop, owned by a very nice guy , which does
custom-only work, by appointment only. So, depending upon what you are
looking for, you might check that shop out as well. They have a site at:
