| Tattoo Books on Jesus |
Question:
I have never gotten a tattoo and am considering getting one soon. I am looking for
suggestions on possible book sources of pictures of Jesus Christ. I feel it
should reflect my concept of life as I view it now. Not just any
pictures, but pictures portraying his battle with the darker side, or his
moments of doubt about his calling. I am looking for a picture that portrays
Jesus as a "human being" and not as a "God figure". My initial idea has a
picture of Jesus with a snake wrapped around him. Does anyone have any opinion?
Answer: -The crucified Christ as a big backpiece is a common tattoo. the
head and shouders of a weeping thorn-crowned christ is also a commen tattoo.
yours is different, i'd look in art books, talk to an art historian, or
librarian in the art reference section. describe the picture you are
after, and they might be able to help with a picture of a painting on that
theme. once you have the picture take it to a tattoo artist to work out.
-The most amazing Jesus I have ever seen is a woodcut-print by Gaugain
(early 20th century). He's on the cross and surrounded by these very
tribal/African images. It's beautiful, powerful and not standard in the
least. If I had any Christian tendancies, I would get it, but since I
don't, I wrote a short-story that had a preacher with that tat on his back
featured in it.
I'll find out the title for you.
