| Book of tattoo (clip) art wanted |
Question:
I'm looking for a good source for tattoo designs. maybe clip art
or whatever.anyone knows of a good reputable source or two, please give me some advises
Answer: - Look for Desk Gallery - 30,000 clipart images on 3 CD ROMS.
- 1. Your best bet for "clip art" is to take a look at the many tattoo
magazines available.
2. These photos should be used for ideas only--do not lift the designs
exactly, as they were meant for the one person who actually got it.
3. Actual "clip art" is called "flash" and you'll see that stuff
stapled on the shop walls. Standard skulls and roses stuff, usually.
4. I suggest you read the Tattoo FAQ sheets--it talks about how to
decide on things. Many top notch tattooists are also excellent
artists who can render all types of illustrations, so it might be
better for you to look for a regular drawing you like--then ask
the artist if they can render it for you.
- You can also use clip-art books
for specific styles, if you know what you are generally interested in.
Many clip-art books are available at art supply stores, but *most* of these
won't have much of interest. Dover Publications, in Mineola, New York
has a large selection of copyright-free clip art books of varying quality,
all of them inexpensive. I know of a few shops that have a small library
of Dover books available for ideas. I know of a few people who have used
Japanese Crest designs, and some slightly modified Art Deco designs straight
out of these books. SUccess will really depend on your vision, and your
artists skill.
- We have a great selection of design & reference books avail. We have a 20
pg. color catalog thats $3.50 and refundable with a purchase, but
I wont ask you to buy it, instead I will send you some material to look
over and if you like it then you can spend your $$ on exactly what you
want. Just email an address or P.O. box and to me and I will mail it out
next day.
