| Hawaiian & Tahitian Tatoo |
Question:
I live in the Netherlands. I'm a dancer in a
polynesian dansgroup here in the Netherlands. I've been on Hawaii for a
couple of times and looked for some really nice tatoos for myself, but I
haven't found a nice one.
Now I want to design one myself but I need some examples. I want to have a
Tiki on my arm surrounded by a band.
I'm looking for some nice examples of (authentic) Hawaiian and/or Tahitian
tatoos.
Does anybody know a site where to look for them ?
Answer: - You may also want to take a look at the work of tattooist Trisha Allen ...
http://tattootraditions.alohaworld.com
There are also several links to her web articles on Polynesian tattoos.
- really interesting book at the Bishop Museum called "The Hawaiian
Tattoo", by P.F. Kwiatkowski, illustrated by Tom O'o Mehau. The publisher is
Halona Inc., 1996, ISBN 0-9655756-0-8.
Good info and illustrations.
- Another thing you could look into would be a book of Tapa.
Many tattoo designs stem from Tapa patterns
