| Q: "Sleeve" Tattoos, what do ya think? |
Question:
First step let me state---I do believe this is on topic....tattoos are
fashionable to me and I am sure to many others--it's a body adornment so
please don't bitch at me for asking this here....
that said....what do you think about "sleeved" leg tattoos...that is,
tattoos that basically cover the ENTIRE leg. The reason I am curious is that
last night at work, there was a group of businessmen at the bar in the hotel
I work at. One of them took off his jacket and rolled up his sleeves and
both legs were amazing.....but everyone else thought it was hideous.
Remember Lex from Survivor 3? I thought his legs looked great...ditto Nikki
Sixx. I just think it is sexy and I think it looks pretty cool on a woman
too.....not that I would ever have it done but I sure do admire it on other
people.could you tell me about this problem!!
Answer: - just because it doesn't appeal to me. (My parents probalby instilled this in
me while I was young.)
-I know there are multi-tattooed people on a.f. and I wouldn't cast judgment on
their choice, but in my opinion, I think anything so drastic and so permanent
is a mistake.
It just doesn't go with my lifestyle, and I hope my children don't get tattooed
I'm not bothered by certain piercings, or smaller tattoos but any body art
carried out to an extreme doesn't work for me.
I admit I do not like Caryperk and Fruitbat.....Their posts border on evil and
psychotic.......
- The trouble is that they're just so big and obtrusive and, usually,
messy-looking. Unless they're *very* carefully planned and executed, they're a
jumble of colours and pictures.
I think one or two tattoos can be attractive (I have four small blackwork
ones myself), but anything too extreme in either size or quantity is just
overkill--like a woman wearing way too much makeup or a guy wearing a shirt,
pants, tie and jacket in four different patterns. With the obvious difference
that at the end of the day, that comes off, whereas you've pretty much got the
ink for life. Plus, elaborate tattoos don't age well, so what looked good at
twenty is just humiliating or gross at sixty (planning to live fast, die young
and leave a beautiful corpse is not an excuse, because things don't always go as
we plan). And I still cringe when I see a tattoo that can't be covered up;
tattoos on the hands and above the collarbone are really not a good idea.
