| shoulder tattoo- laying down or sitting up? |
Question:
I'm getting ready to get a tattoo on my left shoulder blade, and was
curious what to expect- is a tattoo in this area usually done while
you're laying on your stomach, or while sitting up? I've got some
disc problems in my lower back that make sitting for any length of
time w/o a backrest very uncomfortable.
Answer: - I work with them sitting back toward me....but most artist can
work it out with you if you have a problem.
talk to your choosen artist and work with them, it can be as simple as
taking multiple breaks if need be.
- It depends on the studio's equiptment and the artist's preference.
You should call the artist who will be doing the work and ask how
he/she usually works.
My regular artist usually has his customers sit backwards on the chair
and reclines it a bit so they can lean forward/lay against the back.
Another guy in town has you lay on your side.
One upper back tattoo I saw worked on in Chicago, the guy was sitting
on a short stool and leaning/laying forward onto the dentist style
chair.
I would voice your concerns about positioning for the tattoo
before-hand and work it out with the artist involved.
- Just tell the tattooist and the two of you can work out a
position that satisfies both his needs and your disk.
It may be necessary to use cushions or pillows or some kind of
auxiliary support, but fear not, your special requirements can
(and will) be satisfied.
