| New Tattoo Adjustment |
Question:
I've been tattooed for about three months now -- my first tattoo, my first three months of being tattooed.
It's a piece of black and gray shading. Much thanks again, Dragon Moon.
Initially, it was strange to wash in the shower.
It was this new area of my body that I had to be careful with, not scrub hard, not rub hard with a towel.
Then it was strange in that it made me more conscious of the shape of my shoulder.
I never realized that the rear half of my shoulder sloped off like that, until the design had to be moved forward.
Now it's strange in my peripheral vision.
I flopped down on my bed, shirtless the other day, and saw my tattoo out of the corner of my eye, sort of a dark shape.
I guess I'm just not yet used to my shoulder being black.
I've been putting Eucerin on it twice a day.
Dragon Moon advised any skin lotion.
I heard that Eucerin can be used to prevent track marks from forming, but have never had the chance to test.
Answer: I found it a little strange when I first got tattooed as well. Not my own
reactions to it, because in my minds eye I'd been "pre-tattooed" for a very
long time so it looked natural enough to me. But suddenly other tattooed
people were paying attention to me when they'd never have noticed me before,
and the non-tattooed reacted to me in a different way too. Also I now find
that clothes are more of an issue for me, I spend longer deciding what to
wear each morning depending on whether or not I want my tattoo to show.
