Question:
we just had a piercing poll, and after checking Dejanews, decided
to go ahead and ask how many of you have tatto's?(describe the tat, and
its location) Now, to give this a bit of substance, I'm gonna ask you
WHY you got them, and if you don't have one, would you like to get one,
and if not, then why not?
I'll go first!
I am planning on at least 2 more, one is easy, its something else I was
drawing the same time as the yin yang planet, its basically a German
iron cross (I think that's what its called) I'm planning this for my
ankle, all I need now is to get the guts up to get it, the one on my
back didn't hurt, but I know ankles hurt from what I've heard...Anyway,
the second thing I'm going to get is Jareth's symbol (Jareth of the
movie "The Labyrinth"). This is a circle with the symbol for infinity in
it with 3 points radiating from the circle in sort of a triangle shape,
except the points curve a little, and come to sharp points. I'm not sure
where to get that one.
At this moment I just have one, its a yinyang planet with rings around
it (like Saturn), there is a record stylus that comes from the back of
the planet and is "playing" on the rings, in the yin-yang light side
there is a cross, and the dark side has a guitar. Its on my back, left
side, kinda above the shoulder blade, but not on it. This was a birthday
present from my hubby, I had always wanted one, but never knew WHAT I
wanted, so I kinda regressed back to when the want for one started, and
realised there were things I was drawing at that time that I really
liked the designs of, this was one of them. I have to let you know, its
not original, its taken from Billy Idol's "Whiplash Smile" album, when I
showed the cover to people, they chuckled a little, but after it was
done, they told me how cool it looked, and by the looks in their eyes, I
knew they meant it .
I've always liked tattoo's, and always wanted one, just never knew what
to get, and for the longest time, thought that you could only get what
was up on the walls. I doubt that I'll get many more, I am planning on,
if I have any children, getting their astrology symbols tattooed
somewhere on me, but that is way in the future...
Answer:
-I have one tattoo, on my right thigh (outer, not inner). It's of an
ankh with a circle of chain around it, lifted straight from the
Ghouls: Fatal Addiction book. As for the why of it, it was a
relationship thing, although said relationship is over, I still love
the tat (and still love that HE paid for it, heh heh... uh, I guess
that sounds pretty bad to anyone who wasn't there for the whole thing
so I'll shut up about it)
-I have 2 tattoos. Both on the outer side of my Left thigh, up by the hip.
The first is a swag of a red rose, half-opened rose, and a rosebud with some
greenery. About 4" long by 2" wide, like a crescent, follows the curve of my
hip. I got that one way back when I turned 18 as a "rite of passage" kinda
thing.
-I don't currently have any tattoos.
The first tattoo I'm going to get is sometime in the future and is
strongly linked to voodoo. Once I find out who the loa is who works
with me (It's more difficult than "Yo, what's your name" and even more
difficult when you have no houngans in your area to work with and
ask), I plan to have their veve ritually tattooed on the back of my
neck. (since the neck is where the loa in voodoo are said to enter the
person when they possess them.)
My second tattoo will be a little more, um, perky. Combining two
things I've always loved, I simply must get a purple koala tattooed
somewhere, but it has to be where I can see it easily.
The other one, directly below it, and somewhat combined with it, is a fairy
sitting on a rose branch. It is taken from the "Flower Fairies" art by Cicely
Mary Barker. It is pretty big, about 7" long by 5" wide, and extremely
detailed and colorful. I got it a little more than 2 years ago. I got it
because I wanted a big, elaborate tattoo, and I wanted a fairy. I chose this
particular fairy because of the impish look on its little face (Kind of a
mischevious smirk).
I would like to have another Flower Fairy on the Right hip, but at the cost of
tattoos nowadays, it is not in the forseeable future.
