| Vasectomy versus tattoo (pain) |
Question:
My boy and I are going to get our first tattoos.he's worried about
how bad it will hurt.
For those of you with tattoos, how would you compare the level of pain
with, say, a needle in the scrotum?
Answer: - I have 8 tats, and I've had a vas, so I'm speaking from experience. I
have a tat on the upper part of each arm, one on each shoulderblade,
and three along the spine.
The "pain" of getting a tat depends really on where you're putting it.
Any tattoo going right on bone will be more annoying than a tat on a
fleshy part of the body.
I put quotes on "pain" as I found the sensation to be more of an
annoyance than actual pain. As you're getting a tat, your body reacts
with it's own painkillers to numb the sensation of the needle.
On the OTHER hand, I had one sensation while getting my second vas shot
(had one shot on each side) that I would definitely label pain. I've
read similar stories about some guys feeling the same thing. It was
sharp, and my body had no time to react/get used to it. It was only for
a few seconds... after that sensation, I didn't feel a thing.
As far as a comparison goes... prolonged annoyance vs. a few brief
seconds of pain.
- It does depend upon where the tattoo is placed. The one on my back
hurt like hell over the spine, the first one on my shoulder didn't hurt
at all. When I was 60 lbs heavier, none of them hurt, lol. My wife has
2 and she said that was enough for her. I on the other hand will be
working on quite a few more.
Miami Ink is a good show. Watch their faces when they're working on
them, you'll see the grimaces at times.
- We've been watching Miami Ink, and for the most part they don't show
people in agony. The biggest holdup for us right now is deciding on a
design.
- The tattoo hurt a LOT more. Because it goes on for hours, rather than one or
two shots. Mine took about 4 hours, and about half of that hurt a whole damn
lot.
I have an outer upper bicep/shoulder piece. The outer bicep part was no big
deal, felt like someone scratching me with a board nail. But when they got to
the fleshy part inside and on the pectoral... Hoooo boy that was a
teeth-grinder.
