| Help with ideas for tattoo, christian designs.. |
Question:
Well, I will be mature next thursday ( 18 years old) and I'll be heading over to Funhouse
Tattoo to have Rob Soli ink me with a custom cross design on my upper
back / lower neck for my first tattoo. Oh, my god! I'm drooling just thinking
about it, I can't wait anymore!
I've thought alot about my design. I am interested in the cross design, but for some reason I don't feel overly
stimulated by the meaning behind the cross, which probably has
something to do with its overuse in modern design. I really like that
catholic heart w/ flames design for its symbolic value, but I don't
like the way it looks
Could anyone suggest other ideas for fairly symbolic christian symbols
I could have overlooked or show me some examples? I've had a hard time finding something I
really liked. The cross works well , but I
don't want to do it before I know if there is anything else more
significant although I like the way its looks.
Answer: -There are many books on Christian designs, and a lot of different designs
of crosses, from the very simple Greek or equal arm cross, to the patriarchal
cross, to the Byzantine (sometimes called Russian orthodox) three bar cross. If
there is a good Catholic Book store, Christian Book Store, or library nearby go
there for some ideas. You might also think about going into one or another of
the older Catholic parishes in your area to look at the designs in the windows.
There may be other ideas there. And, of course, if all else fails discuss it
thoroughly with the artist and see what version the two of you can come up
with.
-You can go to CD store and ask for the CD of a band
called "the path of resistance". You can see the tattoo: it is like a sacread heart, but with a cross coming
out from the top of it. The way it is done is VERY unusual, and it has
an awful effect.
