| CALIFORNIA TATTOO LAWS? |
Question:
I am a NY tat artist, considering moving
home to Calif living in campgrounds starting
in San Diego and moving I would like to tattoo out
of my RV,
up the coast...till I find my new home...
are there varying laws
on tattooing in Calif, Does this idea
sound too far-fetched or practical? or is pretty much
the same throughout the state?
Answer:
- In San Diego there are a bunch of laws/codes/regs on the books relating to
tattooing. The county has a lot and most of the cities have their "own" laws
(pretty much a copy of the county laws). I'm not sure if you need to get
checked out by the health dept, but the county regs say "be clean." They are
pretty much common sense...new razor...etc.
Most, if not all, shops easily meet the requirements with out trying (otherwise
they wouldn't have customers).
SD is a beautiful place....wear short sleeves all year to show off the ink
- It would depend on what type of operation you plan to run. Safe, clean,
and steril, or dirty, unclean and unsafe, we have enough of the
latter,don't come to the state.But if you are clean, safe,and
steril,come on down, I think your supposed to register with the county.
I'm not sure about the rest of the state. But that won't matter, I think
that when you get to San Diego you'll want to stay.
